In 1946, S. Berton Heard, Charles McElroy, and Charles Vestal founded Heard, McElroy & Vestal, LLC in Shreveport, Louisiana. Heard led the firm as Managing Partner focusing on taxation as well as his peers by serving as one of the first Chairman of the Louisiana Certified Public Accountants (LCPA). McElroy expanded the firm’s services from regional to state by opening an office in south Louisiana. Vestal provided accounting and legal expertise as he obtained certifications and practiced in both fields. Together, this trio of professionals established the firm as a pillar of trust, integrity, and competence, with the mission to provide opportunities for our clients, our people, and our communities.
